COVID-19 Risk minimization strategies

In an attempt to minimize the risk of the COVID-19 virus at Hope Christian College, the following strategies are being invoked:
Cancelled Events as at 16 March 2020
- Open Day
- Year 8 camp
- Whole of Year level excursions
- Parent Teacher Interview night will be done via phone interviews– no face-to-face
interviews will take place - Chapel and Assemblies (other arrangements being made for that time slot)
- Hand washing posters have been installed in bathrooms
- Links to videos teaching children how to sneeze and cough safely have been given to teaching staff and are being shown to students
- Links to videos teaching children how to wash hands correctly have been given to teaching staff and are being shown to students
- Students are being advised to sanitise or wash their hands upon entering a room, and prior to eating any food
- Excursions and camps involving whole year levels have been cancelled
- Hand sanitizer is being placed around the College (There is an Australia Wide shortage of this, however the College has secured a shipment today)
At this time there are:
- no confirmed cases of Coronavirus at HCC
- no suspected cases of Coronavirus at HCC
Any students sent home today have been sent home under our normal and longstanding protocols to send unwell students home so as to protect our staff and students from the spread of “normal” illnesses.
The College is not closing at this time.
Any closure of the College will come about due to the Health Department making the decision that we should close.
